A story keeps popping up on American news sites and then disappearing tonight but I’m not seeing it in the foreign press - I think its possible no one is buying what the US is selling. The story details how an Iraqi Captain who is fully briefed in on the coalition’s battle plan for Fallujah is missing. Every time I link to it the link goes dead, so just look for it.

I’ve been saying for a long time that Fallujah was going to get it right after the election and that it was going to be very very bad. We’re going to take heavy losses. So that’s why this story about the missing Iraqi who’s been fully briefed in on the battle plan smells fishy to me.

When reports come back to the States about just how heavy our losses have been, the American people (those paying attention, anyways) and going to shit little green apples. The battle casualties for American soldiers is going to jump quite a bit and people are gonna want to know what the hell is going on. The White House and the US Military are going to look for every explanation possible that doesn’t sound like “Well, attacking a city fortified with insurgents is a high-casualty business.” and I think this is something they will point to as an excuse.

I don’t know. Something about it just doesn’t feel right. Stay vigilant.
